Healthcare researchers across the UK have an enormous amount of under-utilised data that could be used to transform people’s lives. The biggest barriers to using that data in research are finding what data is available and how to access it.
The Challenge
HDR’s network includes 7 health data hubs, 25 Alliance members and 48 better care members. The challenge was to understand the data landscape across these organisations and create a sustainable process that harvested metadata from the organisations to ensure visibility and quality as the project progressed.
How We Helped
- 412 datasets from 17 organisations were onboarded in the first 3 months, surpassing their stretch target by more than 300%.
- Our personalised reports and trackers gave the leadership team complete transparency and ownership of the project - with league tables motivating stewardship across distributed teams.
- In excess of 500 datasets have been onboarded and the number continues to grow.
